The recent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is now a step closer to becoming a catastrophic event. NASA has released a report that indicates the giant oil slick is inching closer to the Loop Current. Once the oil reaches this point, Pandora's box may open due to the Loop Current's connection to the Gulf Stream. If this were to occur, much of Florida's seaboard could be at risk.
